Convention Speakers

Philip Paulson is a combat paratrooper and Vietnam era US military veteran, having served from 1966 to 1968 on the front lines of battle as a light-weapons infantryman and point man, leading 1st Platoon, Charlie Company, 1st Bat, 503d Infantry, 173d Airborne Brigade through the mountain jungles and fought in some of the bloodiest battles in Vietnam. He is currently an active member of the 173d Airborne Brigade Association chapter in San Diego, California

"Atheist Philip Paulson" has been a name given to him by the San Diego Union Tribune, which has covered this highly controversial secularist since 1989. Paulson v. City of San Diego is a 17-year long US Federal Court and California Superior Court lawsuit in which the Plaintiff challenged the constitutionality of a 43 foot "Mt. Soledad Easter Cross," which is positioned inside Mount Soledad Public Park in the City of San Diego. A Federal District Court Judge ruled in Paulson's favor for removal of the cross on Dec. 3, 1991 and a California Superior Court Judge also ruled in Paulson's favor on July 13, 2005, but the City of San Diego has been throwing up legal roadblocks as the remedy phase of the cross case still has the "Easter Cross" still standing there.

Paulson has a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin, and Masters degrees in both Management of Information Systems and Public Administration. Paulson teaches University undergraduate and graduate students computer information technology and Electronic Business courses in San Diego.

He will be the premiere recipient of the "Atheists in Foxholes" Award, speaking on: "Atheist Philip Paulson Present, Sir!"
